What does Global Warming do in Civ 3?

In PTW Global Warming is also caused by going above a certain number of cities which varies with at least map size. Is it the same in Conquests?

I haven't read anything like that yet. I always have lots of cities, but then again, I play on Huge maps.

Do the mountains stay?
Mountains/volcanoes, hills, deserts, tundra, flood plains, coast, sea and oceans are unaffected.
Marsh turns into sea (coast).
Plains -> desert
Grassland -> plains
Forest/Jungles -> into base terrain (plains or grass).

Ah, that will be why I've never encountered coastal erosion, it's only Marsh that turns into sea and, by the late Industrial/Modern era, there's going to be very little Marshland left that hasn't been chopped!

Tundra not getting affected makes no sense, tundra spaces seem like they would be the first to be affected.

Does global warming negate the "tundra spaces cannot touch deserts or plains" rule, as surrounding grassland affected by global warming will turn into plains and desert?

Are you certain it's only marshes that become coast?

I seem to remember, many years ago, seeing entire islands halve in size due to a nuclear armegeddon in one of my games. Then again, my memory could be fuzzy, but I clearly remember a sizeable amount of land overtaken by water.

If that game was Civ3 Conquests, then someone didn't clean up the marsh.
It's quite possible.

I've seen mountains and hills degrade to coast before. all it takes is nuclear Armageddon.
