What exactly does the cache folder do?

Hey,

so what does the cache folder do exactly, because it was crashing my game as seen here: Game crashing Cache

On a whim I deleted the cache but I never would have guessed it would have solved the issue.

Edit:

It didn't solve that issue, for some reason deleting the cache loaded an old version of the mod.

The cache folders contains... well, cached data (i.e., pre-saved to make later use faster). Deleting it will cause the game to recalculate the data which can resolve issues.

Indeed, having multiple versions of mods can cause issues on its own. If you want to keep an old version of a mod, zip it up then delete, or just move it out of the Mods folder.

Both suggestions (and more) are described in Thal's general mod troubleshooting checklist.
