What Great old games shld be Remade?

Genghis - I'm afraid that I've played Speedball 2100 on the Playstation and my mate and I were so utterly disappointed that he returned the game that afternoon. It is not a patch on the old game. :(
I'd also like to see the Bitmaps' Cadaver redone, and Legend, a sort of isometric RPG also on the Amiga.
Spyhunter too! I love running the ducks over in the speedboat and the power-up lorries were a brilliant idea!
Civ 2, of course, and Pirates, which is another popular choice. Elite and its not-quite-so-good-but-still-brilliant sequel Frontier are due a remake.
And for those people who mentioned Hunter: this was always a game that I meant to buy but when I got Midwinter 2 then I just put it off for too long. :(

Civ 2
X-COM (hell, do all of them)
FF6 with higher-quality music/effects
System Shock 1 (damn that was cool)
Close Combat: A Bridge too Far

I can't really think of any others...

Avalon Hill’s Titan. It has been out of print for a few years & would make a great computer game.

Pirates - are you listening Sid?????
Glad someone mentioned Populous - I played Pop2 at uni on a friend's Amiga and nearly lost that friendship:) I never played the third title, 'cos it looked totally different in feel to Pop2. I just loved getting the firestorms and such, and suddenly building a huge mountain in the middle of the map:)
Surprised Elite hasn't been mentioned more - maybe I'm too old. But that was the first game I remember everyone wanting or raving about when they had it. You could do so much more with it now.
Old'n'slow - I agree about Titan - though I bought a copy of the board game only a few years ago. But it is so fiddly, it would so benefit from being computerised. You could do some really cool graphics as well, and improve the gameplay a bit. Damn, I wish I could program, I'd get cracking on that now :crazyeye:

Also, anyone remember some wargames for the ZX Spectrum by a guy called RT Smith - Arnhem, Desert Rats and one on the Tunisian campaign? I really liked them, though the AI was rubbish. Would love to see them remade. In fact, would love to see some decent wargames for the PC. Not the RTS things, but real historical scenarios. Anyone know of any?

EDIT: Hey, I'm a prince now :goodjob:

Pirates and Defender of the Crown , definately!

I didn't see Dungeon Master and the Bard's Tale series mentioned , those are a few of my favorites too..

if someone mentioned it before and I didn't see it, my eyesight is worse than I thought ;)

X-Com (only the first one, as apocalypse and interceptor were crap, IMHO), i just loved to hunt those insectoids down..
Pirates, of course
Mad TV - Boy had I fun with this one :)

Pirates! seems to be getting a number of votes. Does anybody know if a remake is being planned? Would Sid like to give it a go? I'd love to play an updated version of this classic.

Chris Crawford's Balance of Power, in which you guide either one of the Evil Empires at the height of the Cold War. The aim is to expand your country's sphere of influence through tactful troop-deployment, military/insurgent aid, treaties, economic policy, etc. It captures the gist of the Cold War: two sides trying to install and protect as many third-world client states as possible engaging in both brinksmanship and limited war - without engendering some nuclear holocaust.

Amazing concept. Too bad it has one flaw that renders it almost unplayable.

The game is turn-based, and each turn you are brought up to date as to the doings of your adversaries. You can choose to challenge any of their actions at which point they can immediately back off. If they persist, however, an international crisis is brought about and "prestige points" are at stake. If they remain obstinate, you can escalate the conflict and add more points to the ante. Keep escalating, and your capitol is reduced to rubble.

Often times you are questioned on something as stupid as providing economic aid to Bolivia, and if you don't back down, the situation degenerates into nuclear war. So, if you're playing in against a real-life individual, you can challenge every single one of his/her actions - and end the game (with a war) if they don't comply.

If this can be fixed, it would be perfect.

The game was originally for Windows 1.x, but has been updated for Windows 3.x and greater. If interested, I could send a copy (cracked, so you can ignore every time the game prompts for a manual excerpt).

XCOM (like Apocalypse or UFO)
Reunion
Transport Tycoon
Little big adventure (Twinsen Odissey)

Yah buddy! :goodjob: I have fond memories of DM... I would control the movement, my friend would control the mouse and inventory... He'd prep a fireball and we sometimes immolated ourself when I turned to face a wall... That was a fun game! And I even called the guy who made the game once and he walked us through a tough part. Talk about Customer Service!

Rygar is being remade for Playstation2. Ninja Gaiden also...

Anyone play Taipan? :p
