What happens when capturing a holy city....

What happens when your religions holy city gets captured by a civ of an opposing religion. Do you loose all the affects of your religion until you recapture it? Can the city be converted to the opposing factions religion if held too long? Thoughts anyone.

I assume the city maintains it's central, holy effects for the religion; but, there should be some general deficit to cities prescribing to that religion. These deficits should encourage a crusade or jihad!
