What is latitude for?

The are options in all maps files for putting in the top and bottom latitudes of the map. What's the point of this? I thought it was a C2C creation (as animal spawning is affected by it), but it seems to be done on vanilla maps as well. So why isn't longitude there as well?

Also, what does the "wrap" option do?

Because longitude does not affect people's life as much as latitude?

The "wrap" option allows you to circle the globe in a map: you can travel west or east all the way and come back to your starting point. If this is not allowed, the map is finite and has an impassable west border and an impassable east border.

OK, but that doesn't tell me what latitude is there for in the first place.

Bonuses are placed on maps, inter alia, according to latitude.

BUILDINGCLASS_SPACE_ELEVATOR: <iMaxLatitude>30</iMaxLatitude>.

So you can use it as per your needs. I have an Elephant training centre that you can only build under a certain latitude.

Some parts of the graphics (e.g. where to place snowy forest) is AFAIK also decided by that, but I'm not totally sure.
