What is the appeal of Shaska?

Yeah I would not equate the Aztecs with the Zulus. The Aztecs were actualy a complex civilization, with very innovative agriculture techniques (the floating gardens). Sure, a lot of their culture was an inheritance of the Mayans, but they're definitely a worthy inclusion historically. The Zulus are a very minor kingdom that happened to rise and fall in the XIXth century and famously fight against European powers. I'm completely fine with them being in the game because they have become an iconic part of the Civ series, but there are definitely a lot of African cultures that would be included over them based on historical relevance (the Kongo, for starters).

While I do agree on the Aztec part, I think you overshadow the importance of the Zulu nation in the Southern Africa; I have being living in Africa (namely Zimbabwe and Cameroon) for quite some years now, and I do think a Zulu nation makes much more sense than said a Kongo nation. A simple question of tribes: there is litteraly hundreds of differents tribes in the Kongo aera and I don't think at any point of history they formed what we call a "civilisation" à la CIV5. On the other hand, the Zulu nation was a military powerhouse in the South of the continent for hundred of years. They indeed shine during the fight against europeans, but they were already feared by other african tribes alike. The "Bull" Tactic was also a really inovative in terms of warfare.

Even if the Aztec makes more sense in terms of a Civ civilisation, Zulu as an African nation makes a lot of sense since it was one of the few centralized tribe that made a kingdom last for quite some years.
