whats the best wonder

I guess I say The spiral minaret.

It comes on a time where religion has spread widely and the economy is down - This is an excellent finincial building so it got my vote..

I'd go for Spiral Minaret, although the University of Sankore and the Pyramids come a close second and third.

I went for the pyramids, if you manage to get them it is a tremendous advantage to have all the government civics this early in the game

I love the Pyraminds if I can get them.

If you manage to get Pyramids early on - especially with a Spiritual civ - the versatility in regard to civics is such a massive boost. Admittedly though, Spiral Minaret will give your civ a nice economic boost at a time when most of the world has a somewhat stagnant economy. Interestingly though, both these wonders work best for spiritual civs (easier to found a religion, and thus get the most out of Spiral Minaret; no anarchy means a responsive and versatile nation for Pyramids).

Spiral Minaret, for the nice little financial boost it gives.

I like the pentagon and taj mahal. I'm not really a wonder builder tbh, so I'm not that bothered about most of them, but these are the two that I always seem to go for.

I like to war early, so I can't really afford the production for any of the early ones. Both the pentagon and taj mahal come at a time where I can usually spare some production, and they're both on my preferred reseach path, so I usually have a decent chance of getting them.

Both are warmongers wonders, so they fit in with my overall stragegys very well.

I really don't have a favorite wonder or one I always build, but I find the Oracle very useful, especially for the slingshots to Civil Service or even Metal Casting. I'm suprised that isn't in the options list.

I also like the Kremlin--reduced cost of cash rushing helps late in the game, and I can typically get it because I have a tech lead over the AI by then. All the ones in the list above are pretty good, though.

I like the statue of liberty (when paired up with mercantilism & representation)

I'd go this one, very powerful. I guess a lot of it depends on your stratergy. I often bypass religion (avoids the '-4 You have fallen under the sway of a heathen religion' business) so the Sprial Minaret is about as much use as a chocolate teapot for me.

I don't know about you, but I could find a nice, delicious use for a chocolate teapot.

pyramids by far

???

I'm so confused right now. I know switching early to Representation is quite effective for a specialist economy, but seriously, is no one backing me up on the Oracle--it's quite good--free tech for 150 hammers? Why not?

There are several good wonders out there, you just have to use them right. I'd say Pyramids is good, yes, but there are several great strategies out there that use other wonders (I'm thinking of the Civil Service slingshot with the Oracle, for example).

Oracle give you a big advantage a free tech of your choice can be really good, but this advantage depends also on your ability to maintain it.
Pyramids is just a huge advantage during all the game, if you are spiritual Pyramids in my opinion is just game breaking, there is no such advantage in all the game.
The great wall is also very good but it is good just for imperialistic or people interested in domination/conquest.
So in my opinion oracle and great wall are really good wonders but their importance is specific to the game you are playing, pyramids is an huge advantage in any situation
