What is the building you never have time and resource to build?

Just out of curiosity, I want to know what building in warlord that you guys never or rarely got around to build.

For me its the aqueducts. The last 5 games I played, I built probably just 1. The +1 health just doesn't seem worth it compare to all the other stuffs I need to build.

When you play as the Ottomans, you learn to love the aquaduct's replacement :P

I almost never build castles, even with the trade route boost. My core cities that could thow up a castle quickly don't need the protection. My fringe cities that might use the defense bonus aren't big enough to pop out walls AND a castle quickly without stunting their growth. I tend to focus on culture for my defense bonuses. Economics comes WAY too quickly after Castles, thus the trade route bonus is nullified quickly.

As far as wonders go, I almost never grab the Pyramids. My strats are built without assuming I'll have early access to advanced civics, and I find it takes way too long.

Hum... completely forgot about wall or castles. because the thought of actually building them was never there, they are like non existent for me. As for aqueduct, i never played ottoman and i always wanted to build it, especially when my large cities are at -4 health. But I always have something more important to build.

I guess the question I should ask is which building you want it built but never got around to do it.

Castles. They are a) not important for long enough and b) need walls (which I never build except in times of war)

edit: And not wars that I make, but wars that other people pull on me...

I almost always build AQ's, since my cities will be sick on some point anyways.. the useless building that i almost always manage to build is castle. I usually enjoy its +1 trade route about 2 techs until it gets obsolated... but there's just some magic on them, and usually i have stone around during that time (trade or own).

Castles definately. Walls are built when i have no wonders to build (in my old strategy, I dunno what I should do now, I'm not playing again until I think of a good strategy, should I stick with my old, Modern Combat while enemy medieval strategy on Chieftan, or try an early rush again on Warlord?).

Sometimes I research Economics before Engineering, so I never get to build castles sometimes

The Scotland Yard. By then I am trying to win the space race, so I can't let it be built by a high production city. If I build it in a low production city, I will have built about two spies before I win by launching, so I probaly would have been better off building research with it.

Colosseum. There are so many ways to boost a cities happiness that the colosseum is rarely needed, especially since it's more expensive than the far more effective theatre.

I always build castles in my frontline cities for defence and in my largest cities and coastal cities for the trade route.

Walls and Castles don't seem to be worth the bother of building. After all, whatever the defence percentage of your city it will take an attacker exactly the same number of bombardment shots to reduce it to zero.
And I don't think I have ever built a Recycling Centre, never having needed one.
Finally I only ever build Laboratories if I am going for the space race. It's better to put the city to "building" research, as the hammers (in my experience) produce far more research than the feeble +25% added by a lab.
Not so much a question of time and resource as of usefulness.

Must be castles since, until reading this thread, I never notice them. Walls and bunkers only if there is nothing else to build. ICBM's and SDI are another couple of low priority builds.

Early on, it would have to be Aqueducts, though I build them later. Walls are useful for builders who want a quick way to boost your power rating, especially if you have Stone. I guess Castles would be good for the Spanish, but I rarely play Izzy. I've even built the Internet once, by accident-- started it thinking I'd get some gold for it later, but none of the AIs bothered, apparently. Hands down the one thing I don't build would have to be SDI; the AI is perfectly happy to ban nukes via the UN (most of the votes I've seen are unanimous), even if they happen to get to Fission. Those Hammers are better used on units or space ship parts that late in the game. (Question: are all the rest of the UN votes still options if you have Diplomatic victory turned off? I'd guess yes, but playing a game to find out seems too time consuming.) I guess if you like lobbing nukes around it might be handy, but that's just not my style.

I usually build aqueducts (+2 health) only when my cities approach the health limit as i always strive to quickly hook up health and happiness resources first. I play the incas, so I dont get any health bonuses like Expansive leaders get.

For me its collosseums ... to many other ways to get easy +1 happiness.

Castles - way too short a life span and not much use anyways
Bunker - an utterly useless building
Broadcast Tower - its just easier to build / conquer the Eifle Tower, bseides the games almost overwith anyway by this point
Laboratories - just not worth it, appear too late in game
Drydocks - ok I'll build maybe one, once in a blue moon two

the Internet - if you can build this then there isn't really anything left to learn is there?
Scotland Yard - just spend the hammers on the war machine and kill the other guy
Wall Street - my economy tends to be booming by the time I can even build this thing

Lets see...

I never build...

- Castles, I build walls but not castles don't see the point
- Monuments, again don't see the point, although my brother loves them that is like the first thing he builds always.
- Temple of Artimes, Partheon, Versailles, Notre Dame, I never build any of these things either.

I do get lots of...

- Aqueducts
- Walls
- Also always get or try to get...Stonehedge, Pyramids, Oracle, Great Library or at least 2 or three of those.

Stables, I only build them if I get War Elephants, but Construction is usually last of medeival techs for me so I usually have muskets by then...(I always go for Optics ASAP after classic/mid-medieval so I can get circumnavigated the globe bonus, VERY helpful IMO)
