Hey guys,

I was into the game when it first came out but have put it down. I just recently bought the expansion so wanted to pick it up again.

I was having a hard time figuring out whats the latest patch as well as some of the best/most updated mods for MTW2 out there.

Any advice on this would be appreciated,

thanks

The official website has the latest patch, although I'm not sure if you need to download and intall them one by one or just the latest.

Also get the Kingdoms Expansion, as the best mod I know (Stainless Steel 6.1) requires it.

Whats weird is I didn't find it on their site under downloads and yes I just bought the Kingdoms Expansion.

I'll definitely check that mod out.

The Long Road (for non-Kingdoms only) is a really good mod if you want epicness. It's still the same basic concept, but more detail, more civilizations, and a slower pace. It's also quite stable - not all the other mods are (though from what I've heard, Stainless Steel is pretty good in that department). It's not being updated anymore - if I'm not mistaken, the mod Dominatio Mundio will be it's spiritual successor, but it's not released/finished yet.

For King or Country is another good one, especially if you want a change of pace. It's English Civil War, so lots of musket action. Doesn't have quite the same replay value, but definitely an interesting one to try to change up the pace.

Can't say much specifically on Kingdoms mods since I don't have Kingdoms, but twcenter.net has quite a few good mods in its fora.

The latest patch for M2TW is 1.3; I don't know what the latest is for Kingdoms.

The best mod for MTW2 will be Europa Barbarorum 2, when it finally comes out. (Shameless plug or classical historical fanboyism? YOU DECIDE)
