The couple blocks that it takes me to get to school. Well, short blocks, so 5 minute walk. I usually bike everywhere, and leech rides if there is blowing snow, and the streets are skating rinks.

Up to two miles, but in that case I must have the time it takes to walk the distance, and the whether may not be rainy and slippery. If it's rainy, or slippery, or a blizzard or something like that then my walking distance is to the bus stop, unless I can move underground, which on the other hand is a bit depressing. I gather walking distance is a distance one is ready to walk without explicitely being out to get the excersice? I which case I usually walk 4 to 6 miles

1/2 mile, even more if I am not thinking about walking.

Depends where I'm going and how much time I have to get there. If I'm going to the shops then I generally don't like to walk more than half an hour (there and back). If I'm going to the cinema then I walk for about hour (there and back). If I'm going to the train station then I run for about five minutes then walk back for about ten minutes then twenty minutes I repeat. If I'm going to the pub then I walk for about ten minutes then on the way back I stagger several feet until I collapse in a heap and am carried home by, a) my friends, b) a tramp, c) the police or d) a specially trained unit of rescue monkeys.

I run to my school often for practice, but I don't walk. It's too slow, I get bored, and it isn't physically challenging unless this is like a 20 km walk. I usually run 3 miles-5.

When I had no car I would routinely walk 5 to 7 miles a day going to and from work and doing other things. Now that I have a car I will walk a half a mile at the most unless I am out for exercise. I was in much better shape when I didn't have a car.

I walk ~2 1/2 miles a day, I live in a small town though, so there ain't much need to go further ;)
It doesn't bother me walking further than that, I would if I needed to...

I consider walking distance no more than 5 minutes. I have walked longer than that, but I don't consider it walking distance.

I walk all over town, so that puts me (at most) at having walked two and a half miles from home, so I suppose walking distance for me is five miles at a stretch.

2 miles, I guess.

But I could run much farther than that, but I wouldn't run to a meeting or a date or anything like that. It hurts to arrive sweaty and smelling. ;)

Any distance is walking distance to me, considering I can't legally drive.

a few blocks, or basically anytime i can walk their faster than i can drive their.

I don't mind walking at all. Walking distance is anywhere you have to go, but on a daily basis? I'd say an hour top for me if it's to go to work or school. I like walking but wasting two hours of valuable time everyday is just crazy for a person like me.

@Oda Nobunaga:  Good for you dude, you must be in very good shape and maybe a little crazy too. ;)
From UdeM to Longueuil on foot is a little crazy indeed. I'm guessing you walked a little less this winter when we had these horrible cold days a few weeks ago.

2 - 5 miles, not including the 2.5 miles I run everyday.

5-10 miles.
I walk 4 miles to school every morning, 4 miles back every afternoon, then walk my dog 3 miles every night.

I like walking :)
Its really peaceful, and you can really think about things easily while walking.

Walking my dog is fun. I like watching him chasing squirrels and trying to climb trees after them. My dog is happy :)

Me too. Last Monday(Carnival Monday ;) ), I walked nearly 3 hours, alone in the night. I left the party 6 am and got in the apartment me and my friends were in a little after 9 am. If I were sober I would hardly walk that distance when I could easily drive or take a bus.

I generally ride my bike, because if I have to go somewhere it's usually a fair hike (EG: 16km round trip to school daily, haven't measured to work but I'd guess it's about 10km round trip).

On the other hand, I have walked both of those trips, but I don't really like walking unless I have good clothes on and can't get a lift. Or my bike gets a flat tyre :o

Edit 1: Voting for up to 2 miles.
