What kind of city spacing do we want?

Tight Spacing (CxxC)

CxxxC first ring, then CxxC

Land Grab

CxxxC or more spaced out

I would actually follow the tight spacing for the first 2 (or 3?) cities and then go to a land grab (so 4 and 5 would be land grab and beyond).

That way the tight cities allow more "push" for the land grab.

So what do i vote for then?

I like the Land Grab since we are not going to war anytime soon. While I do like the military avantages on a close build, the cities will be backfilled.

but when we do get into a war we need tight city spacing but there should be a choice for tight spacing and then loss not the other way around tight cities would allow us to move out quicker and land grab or space out cities i would prefer to go with the first blue spacing and then green city space buy the tobacco puting a city right inside the tobacco semi circle would be idle (less walking for works to build roads)
-EDIT ill abstain to this poll but there isn't any choice for that

I voted land grab ... but support what Meleager suggests

>Get Settler factories happening ... land grab resources ... fill in gaps

I think land grab will naturally take place when a city (Athens probably) becomes settler-factory. right now, I think our settler should not waist turns on walking far.
Having next city located next to the wheat (Location 1) will provide us both the food needed for another settler-factory and access to Tabbaco area for the land grab supporters.

I suggest that we CxxxC, then CxxC, especially around this river.

We are sitting on some major commerce/science all along the river. With our Civ traits we can really CAPITALISE on the commerce. Greeks are brilliant for this. Imagine those tobacco squares, roaded up and on a river - when we hit a Republic we will be laughing!

Therefore I suggest we place cities with a view to their full expansion in the late game. This in my mind is dictated by the landscape ie. the river.

We may also want to relocate our capital (costly I know) to the centre of that river bed. Athens will give us a poor circle of influence (corruption-wise) where it is placed presently.

I'm really in favour of centering on that river region.

That sound very good. I think cities around the capital need not to be too close together, but not too far apart either, then we can get closer city placements. The river is a good place for us to be settling because it will mean access to irrigation and no need for the expense of aquaducts.

Did I mention the commerce advantages of settling the river? :mischief:

I totally agree with our President. Nothing like having the option between two settler factories.

BTW - Now we have to factor in the other source of ivory we've just found.

Awesome! I'm glad to see this comming to resolution. I'd like to add my voice to the chorus - pump out settlers! There are pros and cons to every spacing method... the MAIN thing is to get lots of cities out ASAP. nothing is as important as this. (IMHO)

MIA forever!

if we can score 2 settler factories, I'd run for it. Grab land now, BEFORE we meet anyone else. I think we'd also need to have a warrior/hoplite factory up soon to defend this swarm of towns.
