What length turns do you play?

I'm wondering: how many years per turn do you play your games with, and why?

Personally, I play with 1 year per turn, as I feel 2 years is way too fast, but that 6 months takes too long to get to interesting developments, e.g. travelling to America.

Your views?

I play the default (2 years?). I may slow down when I move up the difficulty though.

Personally, I don't like 2 years, as I find the game moves too quickly.
