its brilliant

doesnt the gamecome with a soundtrack CD already?

You can rip all of the mp3 files, also. I put them in my iPod, then took it to work so I can listen to the glory of cIV's classical music at work.

OT a bit, but, does anyone listen to NPR? The theme music to All Things Considered is in the game, but I can't single it out yet...anyone know what it is?

They should have chosen more....civilized music. After all, the game is named civilization. It sounds like something a gorilla could sing.

It is not exelent, but nothing wrong with it either.

I think the music is good but as with pretty much all in-game music for any game I play a lot it wears on me after a while. I've permanently disabled all game music via the sound options. I either enjoy rare silence or listen to MP3s (on headphones as my wife watches brain killing reality tv nearby).

It's not the greatest piece of music ever written, but when you compare it to what other games use to accompany the main menu... well, nothing else compares. When the intro movie finished and the main menu came up, I definitely experienced a "wow" moment on hearing Baba Yetu.

To some other comments I've seen: the religious content of the song is irrelevant to liking it. Many religions produce beautiful music and you don't have to be a believer to enjoy them. All religions annoy me, yet I'm able to enjoy the chants of Tibetan Buddhist monks, the Muslim calls to prayer, African-American gospel choirs, certain religious-themed pieces from European classical composers, etc., etc.

I agree, I am about as far from religious as you can get, yet I can usually look past religious influence on a piece of music...Bab Yetu is no different. Mildly disconcerting, but no biggie.

8/10. I do like alot of the songs, mainly the main screen 'baba yetu'.

I dont like it towards the modern era but I dont hate it neither. I give it 8 out of ten because you can put your own music to it. I may have to bring in some slow Metallica in for late game. Or better yet, Audioslave. :D

You have to admit that ANYTHING is better than the modern era music from Civ3...I do miss the classical age piano composition from that game, though.

The modern era music from civ 3 made my PC crash.

It's very good, but not among the game music that I like most. I like some pieces from the FF series and the Doom3 theme more. Gave this a 7/10.

I gave to it a 9/10 not because its not my favourite and the best i jeard but because i think that you can never sed that something is the best. There always be something better. But sometimes you can said it

10/10. I love it so much that I've even played the openingMenu.mp3 file more than a few times without even starting the game.

it sounds like fake generic "world music" to me. like something you'd hear in a Natural History museum gift shop. I replaced it with some King Tubby dub.

I just love the menu music. Never before, in my whole 25-year history of video gaming, have I hesitated to start playing a game because I wanted to listen to a menu track. :)

Same here - I even made my girlfriend check it out I liked it that much... a bit sad I know

9/10

Definitely one of the best. I even have in my playlist of stuff to listen to while doing homework.

The menu song was the first thing that really struck me when starting the game. I thought it was a beautifull song when i first heard it. I then listened to it a few more times and it gets boring extremely fast. I voted a 9 because while it gets boring fast, it was good enough to be the first thing that cought my attention in civ4.

It was good for what it is; but I changed it to the "Imperial March" from Star Wars.

World Conquest is my style of gaming. "Lord Vader, we have found another Rebel planet called Earth...What shall be thy bidding?":p
