IMO the following:

- Ofcourse new civs, like Babylonia, Portugal, Netherlands and the Ottomans.
- New units will probably be in it. The one that MUST be in it would be the trebuchet. It takes way too long for a catapult to be replaced by a cannon.
- A lot of new scenarios like conquests.
- Military great persons.
- Improved golden age (more turns or lower preqs).

These are the first that come to mind. Any thoughts?

Treebeard will not like that. And you know what happens when he gets angry...

1) religious and commercial victory (SMAC)
2) bombers/fighters promotions, especially picking up a unit in a stack or dogfighting fighters defending a city
3) revamped ranged units system ( see other threads for ideas ).
4) ONE unit to add : trebuchet
5) nuke revamped system : a nuke screen, to allow automatic reply.
6) 1/2 ocean MP for naval units
7) negotiate tech for X turns of a ressource
8) improve map random system
9) Of course.... better AI!!

And....

9) a love affair between Catherine and Montemuza
:rotfl:

I want the Great Wall! Also new civs, partizans,Secret agents,Ninja,More types of buildings (like in civ 2 you could choose what your buildings looked like, Ancient,Renisannce, medievil and so on.

Ummm, how about the throne room or palace???

Or maybe a SEPARATE Worldbuilder. One that makes some kind of sense to use? (Come on Firaxis, take some pointers from Civ3's map editor).

Definitely agree on the trebuchet. Some more tweaking of the AI is in order. Some more Civs to play (as well as INCREASING the maximum allowed on a map at a time).

I really like the Conquests idea for Civ3. That was neat, and would be great if brought back to cIV.

Every new civ game I miss something from the old, this time Cruise missiles, Trebuchets, and most of all Airfields...

religious and commercial victory

I agree : more victory conditions...and since Religion has become so important, it should represent a valid path to victory.

My reservation is that I am tired of seeing Buddhism emerge as the very first religion to be discovered.

From 4000 BC to about 1350 BC, there was only Polytheism. Buddhism only appeared in 500 BC, about the same time as Taoism.

I agree heavily with you on the buddhism thing. Did they even look it up to design it? They might as well have hinduism starting around the industrial age... Unless they followed what some buddhist teachers say about ancient Buddhas that preceeded the historical one. But then it's not historical buddhism; they might as well throw in Atlantis.

I also agree heavily on the trebuchet, it should definetely(spelling???) be included.

I also think that they should get rid of some anacronic units coexisting with better ones on the build list. Like being able to produce chariots when you already have horse archers, or archers, when you already have longbowmen.

But this is my idea for an expansion: CIVILIZATION IV -- THE EARTH
They would have a starting scenario for each era, from just a starting locations scenario in the ancient era to a modern scenario with all the correct cities, religions, wonders, etc, all of this on maps of the Earth (it would be nice if they made it with some two or three different sizes).
