I prefer playing standard sized maps because of a few of the reasons already mentioned: Managing the cities on a huge map can become tiresome, the time between turns becomes minutes rather than seconds, and the main reason for me, is that I cannot effectively manage the leaderheads on the diplomatic advisor screen. It becomes too convoluted when you're looking around for your neighbors, and you keep inadvertantly switching their place on the advisors' screen. I *hate* that. :/
I used to do huge all the time, but doing nothing but expanding for the whole game really got annoying. Maybe I should try huge with 16 civs.
Lately I've been playing on Standard sized maps. Things get going pretty quickly and you dont have 28562635 cities to manage, so I seem to be liking it better.
I used to play huge with 16 civs, but since last autumn I mostly play Standard with eight, in the interest of quicker games. But I think it's about time to start a huge game again ...
I usually play on large maps, but I'm finding that the game drags on towards the end. I'm thinking of playing on standard maps in the future to cut down on game times.
I still can't get how people can play on huge maps spending so much time and loosing so much overview and control.
Since the automation options sucks (due to a not very smart AI)
going huge is not an option for me
