Hello, Sir!
The title says it all. And no old games or multiple games from one series.

Company of Heroes

Nothing revolutionary, just taking the very best of previous RTS games and merging it into one gorgeous mix. Best RTS I've ever played. with AoE2 a very close second.

Grrrr.... it didn't allow me to post a poll! Oh well, here's what I have in mind.

Galactic Civilizations II
Homeworld 2
Medieval II: Total War
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Impossible Creatures
Sins of a Solar Empire
World in Conflict
Supreme Commander
Europa Universalis III

Homeworld 2 has a hard AI that cheats excessively.

Europa universailels is a great game, but I think the learning curve might be too steep for you at this time.

And stop making threads about this, just make up your bloody mind already! We can't do it for you!

Rated M games are off-limits to me. Why is it rated M anyway?

Answer: Strong Language, Blood and Gore, Intense Violence

I've played the demo of that - it seems like a mad rush to colonize... and for some reason, when I had 1 unit per each boat, when I merged all of the ships, I would lose all of my units.

Not really anymore blood and gore than other RTS games (you can easily see worse on TV and in movies, even some Itchy and Scratchy cartoons from The Simpsons are bloodier and gorier than games with this label.).

I don't remember any language from the demo, but it's probably just derogatory comments by soldiers and swearing, probably not easily hearable. It is violent in that people are shooting each other, you can destroy buildings, stuff and units explode.

Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 has the same level of violence but is only rated Teen (or 12+ in Europe).

@Chieften: Weird, never happened to me.

Fall from Heaven

No old games.....tsssssk......;)

Than I suggest Total Annihilation or you should come up with a definition of old (in my book anything before 1990 is slightly old)

Old means anything released before 2001.

The reason why I'm saying that is because my computer was ruined because of StarCraft, so now I'm staying away from all pre-2001 games.

The demo does not benefit from the patches, I would think. And there is a mod or two that prevent countries from scrambling to North America and taking half of it by 1500.

*facepalms*

StarCraft is not every game before 2001. Civ2 is from the ealry 90s and has never caused me problems. In fact, I don't recall it crashing once, and I've had the game for something like 10 or so years.

What exactly did StarCraft do to your computer?

My rough ideas...

Hearts Of Iron II - Doomsday
Europa Univesalis II
Victoria - Revolutions

All from Paradox. They are all very similar in gameplay, so get the hang of one, and you can play them all. Easy to hack/mod, and easy on both the wallet and your PC's resorces. You can even run them without the CD's, and they have near-instant Alt-Tab reaction...

Rome - Total War

Yes, this game has got me bad. As a civ-head, you will be able to get your head around micro-management much better than normal. You do need to fight the battles tactically, but it just takes a elementary understanding of what unit does what to become a boring, but solid commander. The support from their community is good too.

C&C - Tiberium Sun - Firestorm.

Yes, slated, yes, looks dated. But when it is in the Bargin Bin, it is worth buying - if you like the style of game. I would say it is the last true Westwood game before it's soul was destroyed by EA.

It would help to know what your favorte games were, and why......

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars is good if you like the extreme fast play that it has. The expansion (Kane's Wrath) will be out soon. Buy that (Full disclosure: I worked on it. I don't get royalties, but I want it to sell well nonetheless).

Sins of a Solar Empire is the game I am currently playing most. It is a stately paced RTS-4X hybrid. It leans a little closer to RTS than 4X, but is fun.

What about Medieval II?

For discussions about the relitive merits of the various TW games, read your other thread. If you would list some of your fave strategy games, I would be glad to help pick out a couple more suggestions. I now have around 50 of them...
