I was setting my preferences for GOTM34 and I suddenly realized I did not know what in world I had an option on enemy or friendly combat units. Does this one matter????

NEAT!!!! lol I didnt even know that.... but then i never took the time to check the option......

It also works on sleeping units (press 'y') -- if the first option is checked, a sleeping unit will wake up when an enemy unit comes near (that includes workers).

I guess you never played SMAC. That was the first time I saw it.

Does anyone ever use sleep?

Yes, I use 'Y' more than 'F' these days. :D I like the option of a unit waking when foreign units approach.

@ Frollo: I don't think it matters whether the two Cancel Orders are checked or not. Sentinel (Y) units always wake up on foreign unit's approach (even workers). :)

Sleep is for the weak!

But I don't listen to my advisors and use sleep.:):D
With enough use of sleep,
-I would not forget that barb approach or whatever
-I wouldn't have dark circles around my eyes.

In my opinion. Sleep (or sentry) is just a defenseless fortify. I might use it in some game where I build a great fortress-wall filled with musketmen, but so far I have not used it very much.
