what the smeg's going on with MSN?

Ah - go to Trillian.cc and in downloads, they have a new patch E to counter MSN's and Yahoo's upgrades to version six of their products. Stops those pesky messages urging you to upgrade. It works great.
They finally have that patch out? I have been asking for that patch for over a month now. Trillian has gone down hill since they went the pay route although there doesn't seem to be anything better out there....

I one heard that Microsoft will ditch it's Messanger service. From now on it will be a pay-service only serving the US, Japan, and a few other countries.

That is, some Americans, Japanese and others will continue to be spied-upon, but the rest are free ;)

Darn it. Now it appears that Trillian can't handle YIM because Yahoo is upgrading security and is refusing anything but its own messengers. A patch is out for 2.0 users (argh!) but not for the free .74ers

I believe that is only for chat rooms.

These steps are going to make people step to other solutions like Jabber. I doubt that people will pay for IM when they have had it free for years.

Hopefully they'll have the .74 patch soon. I am sick and tired of these companies trying to make me use their client. It is just not going to happen.
