What to do with jungle/marsh/mountains?

I just started trying a new game and the area around my main city is GREAT agricultural land. However, the top half of my island is completely covered in jungle and marsh (I'd say 40-50+ tiles). What do I do with that?

And previously I played a map where almost half of my island was continuous mountains. What would I do in that case?

Jungles and marsh can be cleared, the best thing to do with mountains is mine them, but too many can be a pain I agree.

Stack workers to clear the wetlands faster. Settle on some jungle squares to clear them immediately. Continue to settle other lands -- prioritizing better lands, of course. Cut lines from one city to another, roading and mining/irrigating as you go, of course. That land has the potential to be incredibly productive. Don't dedicate your civ to clearing it, but, depending on the size, I'd have one to 6-man worker crews clearing wetlands for a LONG time.

Nobody said my strat, make lots of defensive units. A civ witha mountain border is easy to defend.

Jungles are not an real problem unless there are lots of rivers in them. If you are not industrious, the worker aspect can be tedious, but not horrible.

Swamps are great. Everyone needs to clear out a spot to just settle so you can put all swamp land on the back burner and settle it at our convenience. The AI rarely settles it so go for the prime real estate first and have a worker (or 8) out clearing land when all the "prime" land is gone.
