What to do....

I've heard a lot of people say to mine forests because of the sheilds....mabey im just stupid or i take things at face value too much, but how the heck can i do that? I don't get the option to mine forests, just to cut them down. I must be really off today or something because im totally lost.

No you're not off. Unless you're playing a mod, you can't mine Forests, you have to make a change in the editor in order to do so.

Doesn't DyP and RaR allow forest mining?

Most people don't allow it.

That's what I do anyway. But it is something of an expolit since the AI will always chop down it's Forests, at least on Grassland. It will mine Plains forests, but it would be better off irrigating that terrain type.

Edit rules - terrain - forest - allow mines.

That's right. Except you set a value for mining a Forest, not just enable it. If it's at 0, it won't be possible.

No, any changes you make in the editor won't be implemented until you start a brand new game.
