First they take some time to learn chivelary and secondly they have some wierd calculation based on shields and something which often leads to that they build the cheapest unit they can (not to old ones though). Maybe its Offens./shield and something with movement. Its not sane at most times though, but hey its the civ AI. I mean they are completly flawless at every other aspect. hrm

I use knights normally because my game demands it but I really like the longbowman-pikeman combo as a good bit of synergy.

I don't really use any of the units in the list except for knights. So, knights for me.

My most favorite unit not on this list would be in between Cruiser, Battleship and Carrier. ;)

the computer is extremely stupid. ive never seen them use knights.

I agree that the AI is stupid, but in every single game I played, I always seen at least a few AI civs build knight. Maybe they didn't have Iron? And it is possible that if you're playing a low difficulty level (Chieftain or warlord, for example) then the AI will not have enough production or research capabilities to build knights when you do. :)

Knights all the way.

of the ones on the poll, medeval infantry. But I like Industrial ages, so I have to say regular Infantry. I just stop using calvary and use a mass infantry, sometimes with mass artillary, a la the Great War =P

When I played it at chieftian almost all the AI civ's used knights.

Well it sounds like a military game, so I'm on my way to Mil Trad. I don't have time to waste researching Chivalry: maces all the way (and I consider the longbow to be essentially the same unit as the mace). After all, if this is a military game, I am raping the AI's ROP, so the extra move is not worth doubling the cost, and the extra defense is worth nothing at all.

I voted knights, but if I'm playing Iroquois with MWs or Celts with Gallics, I may skip Chivalry and beeline for Military Tradition.

OTOH, If I'm playing a civ like China or Japan, Chivalry is a MUST for getting my UU.

It really depends. If you can out research the AI, then you enjoy knights before them, however if you are researching the same amount, then it would appear that the AI would be building knights when you are. Unless you are way ahead of them but do eventually see knights from them.

So, for all I know you could have...

1) Out researched the AI but eventually seen knights from them.
2) Been at a stronghold with the AI in terms of researching capabilities. So you see knights and vice-versa, unless a civ has no Iron or horses.
3) Been lacking the research potentials and seeing knights from other civs while you have older troops. This is a big :nono:.

Kannigets. I use longbows or medieval infantry with escort sometimes and occasionally without escort, sometimes in combined arms with crusaders (if available) who serve as both attackers and defenders, but in the majority of my games attacking forces in this era are knights, knights, and more knights.

Workers, I shovel them to death!

No really, If I can choose I would prolly go for knights as they seem to be better in the long run at almost all times. Someone elite enough to prove this? :p Knights are very expensive though.
