The choice weapon was the spear, cos the archer one was done (Firaxis) and the rifle one was done too (I saw it somewhere, can't remember the link)

BTW, I hope also make a moutned NA using a club (Navaho) and a rifle (Cherokee), if these units were done yet, please, someone advise me.

From what I've read, in the earlier times (from the time the Spanish introduced horses up until about the 1830's), Souix warriors on horseback used either spears (which could be thrown), a type of (believe it or not) composite recurved bow made of layers of bone and wood wrapped in sinew (very similar to the ones that the Mongols used), or more usually, a combination of the two.

Thanks man! Since a mounted NA unit was done using a archer, I'll do this one using the spear, cos I didn't find one yet.

Could your unit be made without the giant ceremonial headdress? I get the feeling that such elaborate headgear was not worn by too many folk, and perhaps not into battle either (although I'm not certain here).

The Iroquoi UU uses a similar headdress too.
My next NA mounted UU, the Navajo Mounted Clubman, will not use this, I use the headdress like a way to bringht graphic differences to the units.

The Sioux were dedicated Horse Archers. The Mounted Warrior in Civ3 was in the game because the Iroquois were a mis-mash of all the prominent Native American Tribes. If you look at the military leaders for the Iroquois one of them is Red Cloud.... a Sioux chief.

Great work btw Civ, maybe he should have only a few feathers rather than the entire headress though? A common Sioux practice was "Counting Coup", basically, the more kills, the more feathers a Warrior was allowed to wear.

the unit is ready and it uses spear, not archer. I have choisen spear, cos there is a mounted NA archer (Iroquoi UU) already done.
In hours I will post the unit (file ready to download + add the unit in the Sioux civilization)

What weapon?:) I think that should be few Sioux Horsemen, upgradable to each other.
1. Basic Horseman - with spear or bow (preferably spear)

2. Musket Horseman - available with Gunpowder
3. Repeating rifle Horseman available with Mass Production
http://www.ronwall.com/toysoldiers/iwc3.jpg

The archer one was done (Iroquoi UU) and the rifle one also (can't remember the link, but I'm sure I saw this unit hours ago). For this reason I chocie to the spear one :)
BTW fellows, new (final artworks) in the 1st post, in hours I can post the unit in CFC

Theres a rifle-using Native Cavalry? I've never seen that online, aside from the conversions steph made.

I saw that one... isn't it a unit? In case it is not, I can make one myself (Cherokee Mounted Light Rifleman)

I think there's a cut and paste mounted warrior with rifle somewhere.

Yeah, Varksal did a lot of cut-and-pastes with the Vanilla "Iroquois" Mounted Warrior head on top of various bodies (like the Vanilla "Cavalry" unit).

P.S. I really like how in your Sioux's Run animation, he raises his spear over his head. Classy!
