What would be the least optimal sponsor, colonist and cargo combination?

Depends on how you want to play. For a peaceful match probably something like:

- Sponsor: Brasilia (no real bonus unless you're being declared war upon)
- Colonists: Mercenaries (also no real bonus, if you don't have the extra-loadout unlocked probably Scientists because early science is relatively useless and +2 Science is nothing over the course of the game)
- Spacecraft: Lifeform Sensor
- Cargo: Ultrasonic Emitter (or +1 Pop if you don't have the extra Loadout)
