Whats a good CPU around these days?

FYI, Athlon is a product name for several lines of CPUs (Athlon, AthlonXP, Athlon64, AthlonX2, AthlonFX) produced by the company Advanced Micro Devices, aka AMD. I point this out, because the Athlon name may be changing when AMD releases their new line of processors this summer.

All the roadmaps for the AM2 socket show the same numbering scheme for AMD processors, so I can't imagine they'll be dropping the Athlon name.
