There was a documentary about this on PBS several weeks ago and the women were indeed called slaves. So I'm not sure that there is any reluctance to call it slavery at least on the part of the media. Governments and NGOs are of course another matter; it's something that they would rather ignore. The worldwide problem is much more wide spread than just Eastern European women being tricked into prostitution. We are even starting to see it in the United States where illegal Asian immigrants are being held against their will while they pay off their huge smuggling debts.
