What's missing from "ModdersGuide.pdf?"

I've been struggling to put together even the most basic of mods for the past two days following the directions in the ModdersGuide. It's clear there's information missing from the guide, so I'm wondering if there's a thread which lists all the basics missing from that document?

For me, there are several problems which keep cropping up, for example:

1) The demonstration Celt Civ doesn't even correctly load despite cutting and pasting (the Civilization, Leader, and Text files) directly from the PDF. When one gets to the Civilization selection screen, the scroll bar is missing from the right hand side of the window.

2) The guide misses mentioning that you MUST include a combination of two Civilization_BuildingClassOverrides and/or Civilization_UnitClassOverrides.

3) [EDIT] Fixed with VFS fix.

4) About 50% of the time, the world is loading without units, causing me to immediately lose.

That's not to say it's all bad. I was able to figure out how to add a Worker unit to the starting Civilization_FreeUnits and get it to show up when the game loads. But, again, I'm wondering if someone has already compiled a list of corrections to the ModdersGuide so I can stop beating my head against the wall over the simplest of modifications to the base game.
 
The most important missing point is the VFS (virtual file system): you must include your images and LUA files into it (in modbuddy, select those files, hit F4 to show properties).

Well, that fixed one of the problems. :)

Someone should probably fix the sticky about the ModdersGuide to mention the VFS errata.
