What's the longest time you've ever played?

How many hours have you consecutively played this game...i mean, 15 minute breaks notwithstanding...

I remember once i actually woke up at like 6 am just to play the game, and i was still at it around 11 pm. the same day. I was so disgusted with myself afterwards. It was one of those cases of throughout the days saying, "OK. I just want to get this Wonder, and then i'll quit..." "Well...i might as well wait till 1900 AD to quit, i'm that close already..." "I just want to defeat the Aztecs, then i'll get some stuff done..." And so on and so on...next thing i know...it's 11 pm. God, this game is addictive.

I know, the game has made me late for work, bed, supper, I have even played rather than watch my favorite program on TV. I've also neglected my girl friend. Thank God she's understanding though or the relationship probably wouldn't have lasted as long as it has.

She tells me she just relates my Civ Addiction to her Shopping addiction then she can understand :) what a woman huh?

Certainly understanding, but there is a bit of a cost difference between the two addictions....

On topic: I have had a couple 12 hr stretches at times.

I think the longest single stretch, for me, is about 4 to 5 hours. Anything beyond that, and I start feeling really weird/uncomfortable -- I know I should be doing something more productive/constructive. Where Civ gets me the most is when I get home in the evening around 11:00pm. I'll fire the game up thinking that I'm only going to play a turn, or two. Of course, the next time I look at the clock it's 1:30am.

Sounds exactly like me. I'll fire up the game, figuring I'll play a half hour. Next thing I know, 2 hours have gone by. One time, I was playing with my 9 year old son. I figured we'd play till 11 (which was his latest bedtime during the summer). I turned to look at the clock and it was 2! My wife nearly shot me for letting him stay up so late :)

Hmm... Quite recently I have had a 15 hr session.

I never play longer than one or two hours, don't have the attention span.

17 hours is my longest stretch, then I went to bed but couldn't sleep because my mind was going over my next move!

Sid, you have ruined my life, LOL!!

Don't know, honestly.

Usedta be, I'd play at work for a bit (my old job) and get maybe four hours in. Then come home, get the kids on the bus (worked overnight) and play from about 8:30a to about 4:00p, with the small break. So however long that is.

Your girlfriend is a keeper.

Not counting the eating times i think it would be from 8am to about 9pm. One of those days where i had nothing else to do and the game was going fine and I just had to play one more turn all the time :mischief:

Having been shocked many a time by how fast the time has flown playing Civ I wonder if there's a mod for showing a clock.
Don't have a watch and all the bits and pieces showing times are in other rooms.

C3C comes with a counter. I think PTW will tell you too.

Ainwood's CivAssist (in the Utility Programs subforum) tells you how long you've played at the beginning of each turn.

of course, that doesn't tell you how long each session is, just that game.

lol, Sid didn't make you play for 17 straight hours, you did it by your own accord. But he has been sending out his CIV squads, which force you at gun point to play for such periods of time
;)

I once played for 36 hours straight, not even eating. What made me realize that I was playing too much was when my mates went to a party and I stayed at home playing civ.

I love how when you press 'quit game' They ask you: "do you really want to quit the game(or something to that degree)". Most of the time I say no and continue to play. They make it hard for you to quit.
I understand the whole girlfriend/wife thing. My wife also equates my love for the game with her love for shopping and doesn't understand when I tell her that the Hittites must pay for their insolence.

I'd say 9 hours straight was the longest I've played.

 :rotfl:  When I first started playing I would suddenly find out it
was 2 or 3 AM  , and then still have to play 'a few more turns' .
Since I always carry a watch into the computer room and have even put a
wall clock in the room ;) -- which my wife says 'clashes' with the room's
colors  , so what..... I know what time it is! :p

I don't usually keep track of how long I play, although I have played straight from morning to night several times before. The counters at the end of my game always say something like 60 hours, mostly since I leave the game on overnight, even while I'm not playing.

I left the game on overnight in the same game twice I think it was. When I was finished, it told me I had a 100+ hour game. Wasn't more than 110, but it was over 100....
