What's with Jaguars??

The other thing you forgot is that an Axeman attacking awoodsman II Jaguar standing on a forest tile is about 11% odds of success. As long as you stay in the forests they can't get you out unless they wanna send in 2/3 axes per Jag.

This is what I meant when I said the success of Jaguars relies on the game conditions. If you and your target are in the jungle of forest heavy area, Jaguars rule. If you have a N/W pole start or flood plain/desert start (those areas also tend to see copper or iron), your jaguars may have "no tree to hide".

The sacrificial altars, while certainly powerful, unfortunately come only after COL. By that time most other civs will have some decent defence already.

Playing the bloodthirsty Montsy is a lot of fun, regardless.
