What's your favorite Biome?

So, now that Rising Tide is out, what's your favorite Biome?

I still kind of like Fungal, since it has that weird alien look going on.

Arid for me, something about it feels sort of calming.

Though I absolutely love the Fungal biome's look with the Vibrant Fungal Terrain 3.0 mod, it looks both more strange and more beautiful.

The Visually Distinctive Terrain mods are also quite good.

Primordial. Looks good and has a nice Bonus. Also guarantees alien action.

Icy world (Frigid) got my vote, although arid is close second for me. At least in appearance.

I never play it in Rising Tide, BTW, as my attempt to implement it in Rising Tide Demo without Rising Tide texture file always end up with white and red checkerboard world (and sometimes in the sea!)

Pretty tough choice. Frigid is my favorite looks-wise, but has such a lame marvel. Instead I picked Fungal since I really get a kick out of settling by a fungal node and getting all those crazy food yields. It's just so satisfying.

That is quite wonderful. That's a lot more how I imaged a fungal biome to be when then mentioned it (and that was inspired by Nausicaa's fungal forests). Nice alien colour scheme but crisp and vibrant.

Same reason why Primordial is my favourite biome. It has the rich vibrant colours but feels distinct and "alien".

I voted for Primordial, which I think does the best job of having a distinct but easily readable aesthetic. I think fungal is beautiful as well, but the terrain types can be a bit difficult to tell apart sometimes.

Unfortunately due to disliking RNG advantages I don't like the biomes that reward you for being lucky and having the marvel objectives near where they land. Thus I prefer Arid for when I want a low alien map and primordial for a high alien map.

I love the almost calcified look to the mountains and craters, like something strange is growing on them.

The Primordial biome is also wonderful, I love the bold and varied colors in it.

Comparing them, the Arid Biome could afford to have more of a dusty, wind-swept look in the desert and the plains with more varied color in the dirt.

The mountains could have a sort of wind eroded look to them.

The Frigid biome has a nice feel to it - like you're alone on an inhospitable planet. As a plus I like to mix it up with Mu Arae F (Tilted Axis), for some very interesting maps. My second favorite is Arid. It's nice to think of a calming, desert alien world with an ancient alien city. Reflecting on the world and civilization of the past. How it came to be abandoned and such. Very soothing.

Primordial with arid being a close second because the other ones need texture mods for me to understand what is the terrain.

I chose Primordial mostly because of the Deserts, but I do love how the aliens will fight back hard. but they will never win their destiny is to feed my research and launch me back to earth for Emancipation.

have you tried Taigan with the Frigid biome? its almost as insane as it is cold.

have you tried Taigan with the Frigid biome? its almost as insane as it is cold.

Am currently trying it right now and it has a nice feel to it. Very atmospheric. Next game I'll probably try 82 Eridani E with Primordial. That should be interesting.

In vanilla Beyond Earth, lush was hands down my favorite biome. Now fungal is tied for my favorite. Primordial, not so much.

I love Frigid. It's got a calm feeling and I like the color scheme. At the other extreme, Fungal I can't bear to watch, I don't know why, it just feels like a huge blob all over the screen, too "noisy" perhaps? Maybe there's something wrong with my screen's color profile.

I like the frigid biome, although I find it hard to believe when I see grassland and flood plains there with plenty of food. Then I have to convince myself that this is about short, warm summers and long, cold winters or something like that

I also like primordial worlds, but I find rivers can be very hard to see in the landscape. At least until I've put farms all along them

I voted primordial, but it only just edges out frigid. I find those two the most interesting and atmospheric. I didn't like fungal so much, to be honest.
