What's your favorite terrain square to have at beginning of game?

When the map generates, what is that square that you are just praying to see?

Me, the plains with a cattle on it (next to a river). With a road and mine it becomes a very attractive 3/3/2 square. When railroads come it becomes a very, very attractive 3/4/2 square (or is that 3/4/3?).

I also like hills with wine on them, mined with a river and road they are 2/3/3, with railroad they are 2/4/3 or 2/4/4.

Initialy? I like the plains with a flood plain and as many wheats as they will give me. Apart from that any river with mountains or hills and resource will do.

A river.. im not picky.. But without a river your kinda screwed on quick growth. And with a river nearby means you also have coastline, plains, grassland and maybe even flood plains.

Grassland with cattle or floodplains. Especially floodplains with wheat. Then I don't have to build a granary to have a decent settler factory.

plains with cattles...

if you are lucky enough to have 3 of those in the city radius(I did a few times), you can make settlers in like 4-5 turns w/o rushing or having a river near by.

I want to see fur next to the river to build my city on so I get that extra production (cities built on fur produce 2 shields instead of one, not sure what other terrain that works on). Within the city radius, I want to see cattle on plains by a river. :)

Wow, didn't realize the extra shield from furs, I did know about extra food from wines (don't build directly on the wine, you won't get the food bonus). And if the wine is on grasland you won't see the bonus until you are out of despot.

After a cow, I like to see game on forests. Since it's forests, it won't offer a railroad bonus, but 2 shields/2 food in despot is pretty good (same as a mined bonus grasland without having to mine). When switching to monarchy or republic this becomes 3 food, 2 shields.

late in the game, the best thing you can have is... plains. trust me.

In the 21 tile radius:
1 for city
6 hills
7 grassland
7 bonus grassland

Throw in some cows and I am the happiest guy alive.
(But some iron and coal on them hills is REALLY nice;))

4 grasslands (2 cattle) (1 horse) (1 wine)
2 flood plains (2 wheat)
2 hills (1 coal) (1 iron)
1 coast (1 fish)
twin rivers passing all spaces
Is that too much to ask?

That sounds like a fantastic starting position.

I would only add a couple of hills with gold on them with rivers running through of course :)

Also would like rubber, uranium and oil

3 floodplain wheat (11 food/turn for a size 3 city)
6 cattle grassland
1 horse grassland
1 iron hill
1 coal hill
1 wine hill
1 fur forest
1 incense desert
1 dye jungle
1 spice forest
1 silk forest
1 ivory plain
1 gem mountain
1 fish coast
All beside river.

I'm not picky,a river flowing through some grassland tiles and I'll be fine.;)
