started playing at 12 i think. hard to imagine someone starting to play over 40 though, it seems that interest in games would die by then.

Little over a month ago and I am 20. Although I recall trying to play Civ1 a very long time ago, but knowing no english, I had no idea what was going on and stopped.
Kind of wierd voting 11-20, makes me feel like I'm 12 years old or so...

Um, I voted "other". I'll be 63 next week. :D

I certainly got tired of Monopoly and many card games, but I've only had a computer for about 6 1/2 years, so I'm still a kid about that. :p

It is good to see that even the elderly can enjoy Civ.

I cannot remember the exact year I started playing, but I know it was in my teens when I first play Civ1. I think it was a family member that introduced me to it. I can't remember much of Civ1 except for the fact that you had to pay for the upkeep of walls. This was one change I greatly enjoyed and had too tell a cousin about this change in Civ2. Now I mainly play [c3c]

Actually I know two guys, a friend who started when he was early 40's (he introduced me to Civ1), and a friend of my dad's who started in his mid 50's. I got him intruduced to Civ2. :)

Interest in games would die by then? You couldn't drag them away from their computers if you tried!

I was about 15 when I started Civ1, I'm 26 now. :goodjob:

I must have been a teenager when Civ 1 came out, but cannot remember how I found it... Had to be a friend who introduced me to it, I think...

Oh, yeah, I'm 31 now... IIRC (my wife would know better)

We shall fight to the bitter end

I can still remember it. Although my english was very bad those times, by trial and error I knew what was going in :)

I started with Civ2. Then a pause. Now C3C :)

started it in 99 i was 12. now im 18

I'll be 57 in two months. I started to play Civ2 when I was 49. My wife, who is four years younger than me, also plays Civ.

I think I was like 11 or 12. That would mean I've been playing for about 4 years, which seems about right.

Ouch!!! I guess I think of "elderly" as too old to hold a job anymore and too feeble to get around.

Actually, when you think about it, it would be a terrific activity for the aged who can't get out and do the things they were physically able to do when they were young. As long as the eyesight holds out and there's no arthritis, there's little physical stress, unless you play the type of game that requires quick reflexes...not necessary with Civ.

They also say that a person is less likely to become senile if they keep their mind active and challenged.

Just my 2 cents worth. :)
