When does it plan to come out?

I am definetly sure this thread may have been posted before, I am just curious and expecting a quick answer to a year and possibly a month or season Civ4 is supposed to come out. I suggest this is stickied too.

There's a Search for a reason. Unfortunately, it was taken down because too many people were using it (this site is that busy). So now we have a crappy Google search.

Anyways, people suspect that it will come out December of 2005. This is just a guess, and Firaxis hasn't even announced anything yet.

Even December 2005 sounds pretty early to me. I wouldn't expect it sooner than 2006. They barely announced plans to start developing it in the spring/summer this year -- and most games take 2 years to develop, minimum.

I agree.

It was well under way by spring as Soren gave presentations on what it would be then at the Game Developers Conference (edit: and at that time he said that they were already playing it). Most publishers do not want to fund a game for more than 2 years as it ties up their money for too long with no return on investment. (Note that some development houses do not rely totally on publisher funding so their game schedules may go longer than the industry norm)
