When to move to a different level?

I'm starting out at the easiest level, standard size map with 2 other civ's.

Before moving up a level, I would first play a game with more civs. The normal number for a standard map is 8 and for a large map is 12. You will find the game to be *much* different with seven other civs out there (on standard map) instead of just two.

Just my two (seven?) cents.

Good point. I found the game to be easier when playing against more Civ's on the map - especially on the easier levels.

It gets harder in hard levels with more civs, because they don't like you to begin with, and more AIs mean more core cities.
