be visible. they are llisted on GOTM site, but when you go to results page, only results up to GOTM25 are selectable/visible.

I'm not sure how you are processing the results. An automated script seems like it would make the most sense, but judging from the delays it doesn't appear to be the case.

Perhaps I can help write an automated script. I have no idea what you have now, nor how hard it is to extract information from the *.sav file and the other fields in the submission process.

However, it seems like it should be pretty straight forward to parse all the information, then rank and summarize however you want. Maybe no one has ever gotten around to it.

I am not the best programmer, but I could write a Perl script (or c code if preferred) to do the text manipulation, ranking and summaries. I would just need to know the data base format.

As payment, I might search for the "jeffd210" string and add a bonus 100 points or so :).

Well, it is more than simply parsing the results - we need to do validation as well. We already have software programs that do the majority of the work, but for players who haven't sent in a completed game, we have to manually finish it. Not as time consuming as it was, but still takes a while. Aeson and AlanH are working in the background on further enhancements, but at the moment it is just a time issue. Things are improving slowly though, so don't give up on us yet!

Please don't take this the wrong way, as I'm a newbie here and don't know if this has already been discussed to death.

Could you come up with tentative results the day after the entry close date that shows about where people placed? The list would be subject to change due to your review process, but I would think that it shouldn't change too much.

For the non-top players a few places difference probably doesn't make much difference. But it would help tremendously to see how much room there is for improvement before forgetting all the details of the game. And it would keep people hooked longer, getting results just as a new GOTM was available to try to do a little better this time around.

It happens in the Olympics too...this athlete got his medal 2 years after the games 1996. Due to drug-testing and courts, the winner was disqualified, and the resultlist was changed.

But that is not the case here, is it?

Hehe, maybe it is so :)

How about validating the Top 3 (finished) medal games first and posting them (as interim results) as soon as they get validated. Then going on to the rest of the games?

> For the non-top players
Each one of us knows which victory condition we were personally shooting for and can calculate our own Jason scores to see how far we are from the best.

Contenders who don't finish their games should be willing to accept a delay before their skill is recognized. Those who do finish their games probably deserve knowing that they were ("in the run").

ok, I know i'm being a pest, but I was wondering if there has been a change in attitude regarding the Jason calculator as well? In GoTM24-26, we were able to calculate Jason scores after QSC submittal. This month, the Jason calculation has stil not been updated and it's only 3 days till the next game is release. Not that it's a big deal, but it's always interesting to see how far off I am from the "ideal" ending date.

Thanks
