Look a little around here... Oh, there's this Sticky thread at the top by Jeffrey Morris "Problems with the patch? Post here!"

And the firaxians are there replying and saying they're working on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find a new game to play and quit all the *****ing on here. For goodness sake give it a break. Go find yourself a game that is just clone of another, one that a plain old broken startagy will work.
IT is pretty simple, if you dont like it, dont play it!!! I am sure we have all bought games that were not what we wanted, it is part of life. So until you can go out and program a better game GET OVER IT ALREADY

That might be a valid argument if people didn't have to pay for the game to find out it was broken. Give it up fanboy, your face is getting smeared in poo from all that butt licking.

that this is the first game you bought that you didnt like? This is not an issue of a broken game, this is just a game you dont like that you cant beat so you call it broken. The few things that didnt work as advertised (air power etc) have been fixed, the rest were game play descions that you dont like, dont call them broken.

what is a "FANBOY" is this something that is supposed to hurt my feelings? let me guess your like 12 years old or so.

Lol Mike C...

CivJester, maybe you don't get pissed when you buy a crappy game. Maybe your parents give you an allowance or something. But most of us get pissed when we drop 50 bucks on a game, then have to wait a month to get it to where it can be finished. And even now, it seems about 3 years behind the technology curve.

They made the game, and for that we should be thankful. But I paid my money, and I expect a little service. I've said it on this board before.... as soon as a Civ-killer game comes out (it'll be soon), I'll drop CivIII instantly. It'll probably be another 6 years before another Sid Civ game anyway. And they'll probably reuse the same s-l-o-w code, too.

His profile says he's a "Comp Sci Major" so he's probably around 20. Actually, from your posts, Mike C, I'm surprised you even *buy* software; you talk like a Linux/FSF freak (not meant to be an insult, btw). But, I don't think we can blame Firaxis or Infogrames for the poor quality of software these days - it's all MS's fault. *They* started this "good enough" trend in software quality, the rest are just following the leader. We need people to come, again, to expect software that works. We need a new leader. My guess is it will come from an Indian company... :)

12 or 20 these days it is about the same in maturity level. I have been buying my own games longer than most of you have owned a computer. It is easy to sit and dog a company out, but untill you can do better, give it up. I have heard these same arguments about Diablo, Diablo II, Baluder Gate, IWD, StarCraft, etc. You can find problems with any game, try looking for the good things instead. It is a fact of life that at times you are going to buy things that arent what you expected, just live with it.

and to blame Microsoft is a cop out.

Yeah, but it sure is fun though! ;) The point is still valid - until people expect software to work, it won't. Software *can* be made to work, it's just expensive and programmers (as opposed to engineers) complain that it takes the "fun" out of it.
