People talk about earth maps in civ4 but i dont have any on my custom game menu. I dont think they mean terra map because people mention specific locations such as japan. Does this come with the game or is it a user made map?

And about user made maps, is there anyway to set up the user made map so you can play it in custom game and not like a scenario. I tried but it wouldnt show up in custom game map type.

Sorry for the trouble.

Bump please help.

Oops double post.

I guess we need a map script generate EXACT earth map.
maybe it is a good idea, but need someone to do it :)

The Earth map they are referring to is one of the scenarios. I forget what it is called exactly, but I have played it in MP, and each civ starts in the correct historical place on the map.

You can play the earth map via the Single Player Game > Load Scenario > Earth from the menus. You only have a handful of civs that you are allowed to play though.

Can you load this map outside of the scenario? Any help?

Its a shame you can't play all the civs in the earth scenario....should be fixed in a patch

I don't know that it can be "fixed", as I doubt it's a mistake. It could be changed though.

Having every civ on an Earth map is always a little silly. Some civs start boxed in on a small landmass, while others have en entire continent to exploit, more or less at their leisure.

Having a few "basic" civs to represent each culture makes more sense from a gameplay and historical point of view. The Germans represent the northern European civs, the Romans, well, the Roman civs, the Greeks both Greeks and Slavs, etc.

An Earth scenario with every civ is something better left to the mod community. I like the one that they included, and really like Earth 1000AD. (Though I admit, there are a couple more civs I would've liked to see in regular Earth.)

It is about the possibility to play any civs on the earth map, like the French or Americans, which you can't do right now, a thing we were able to do in CIV III. I am not talking about putting all the Civs on the earth map at the same time.

I am playing my first earth game and went with Qin. It has been pretty easy so far as the Mongols, Japanese and Indians did not put up much of a fight. Looking forward to earth 1000AD, how many leaders are available in that scenario?

I can understand some people not wanting to play with all 18 civs on an earth map. What I sometimes get bummed with is when other people don't see why it might be a cool challenge.

For example - I have two maps in my sig available throught the top link - a small earth map and a tiny earth map. Both with 18 civs... probably the worst place to start is in the arabia pen. But IMHO, it should be a tough start... if you can hold out to modern times you have a valuable resource to trade.

If you don't want a challenge - don't play it, try America or Russia instead. Or play a map with fewer civs. But please don't deny that it might be fun for others to try it out.

Rhye made his Earth Map (the one in the game) with 18 civs on it. Check it out in User-Created Maps.
