Where to put the Statue of Liberty?

One way or another, we'll be getting to Democracy within the next couple of play sessions. One of the main arguments for going towards Democracy was to build the Statue of Liberty. However, I don't feel we have had a proper discussion of where to build it. So let's hear the candidate cities and arguments for why they should receive this honor.

I like Riversight for the statue, currently it's tied with NOTA for the highest production in our empire. I can't predict what the highest production city will be when Democracy is finished, but Riversight seems a good guess.

Some have proposed that we research RP before democracy to speed up the building of the statue, taking a quick glance at the top 5 production cities, Riversight seems to be the best suited for accepting lumber mills, as it is working two forest tiles at the moment and will grow soon, likely working a third. (That said I don't believe the turns used to research RP would be made up in production time, but that's for another discussion)

Riversight get with Pop 13 only 25 H
NotA with Pop 15 and change of specialist 29 H
In both cities are 3 forrest-tyles.

NotA is building now Taj. complete in ~12/13 turns.

I am open, and Riversight seems to be a good spot for Statue of Liberty, as the city may as well generate a lot of GP later.

We could also use the culture bonus against the Romans, which is another argument, given the general interest in slow and delayed warfare.

I would certainly regret it if the forests were chopped just to hurry this Wonder in either city. I would prefer NotA at this moment although there isn't really an edge over Riversight.

I'm probably a bit biased for Riversight, I still like it from my days as elder :)

Good analysis on the growth HUSch, I didn't look into that aspect, I assume the taj will be done by the time we start the statue of liberty so that shouldn't interfere.

I think we should think environmental here, and go for replacable parts, and then take democracy (after engineering of course).

This will save our beloved forests, and allow us to wrap up the wars in a good fashion.

Riversight is a good, if not the best choice.

Note that the production shown may include overflow, so it may not be an accurate way of comparing production cities.

I am fine with Riversight though, as Coppertown will build the units. That's why I'm pushing for RP.

I am now convinced we need to change tech paths, please someone put up a new technology poll for what to take after engineering? Obviously, engineering earned its stripes already.

The Statue must be built by a high hammers city, but not the two
military ones.
Cultural struggle with Romans should be over, without need the Statue to.
About GPP: if desired, then hurry before GPfarm begin to work.
Best regards,

I think the Statue of Liberty should be put on the "Planet of the Apes" (TM), where it belongs, right now we need some structure and order, not more liberties. :)

I've redone my analysis of the benefits of building the statue of liberty. As you know it will give us one additional specialist in every city. Looking through the cities we will gain an additional 95 base beakers, I've also calculated the average ratio by which our infrastructure boosts science production to be 1.376, giving the final increase in science due to the statue of liberty as 131 beakers. This represents a 28% in science output overall. In my opinion this is too large of a benefit to our empire to delay for too long, every turn we delay the statue of liberty we don't gain those extra 131 beakers.

As for the methodology of this analysis; I looked into every city and found which could support new scientists, these cities will add 6 science to their base production due to the statue of liberty, cities which can not support a scientist will support another type of specialist which will give 3 science due to representation. The sum of all of these beaker increases is 95. This figure will probably rise as underdeveloped cities complete libraries and become able to support scientists.

The ratio by which our infrastructure boosts our science production was determined by summing the base science produced from commerce and specialist in all cities and comparing that number with our total science output, this should also increase as more cities finish libraries and universities. However the figure may be somewhat off because not all cities have the average value their percent increases range from 0% to 110% however I would be shocked if the true increase was a major deviation from 131.

With this new information at hand, good research by the way, I support the democracy beeline. Because of the numbers, not the slogans.

Engineering-Democracy is the best research path (we still need the pikemen and quicker movement). Engineering takes 2-3 turns of research, and would not harm, rather be useful.

So, the goal is to have LS as soon as possible, and the question if RP should be
discovered before Dem.? Right goal and right question.
Let us see. RP takes 5 turns to research. The LS costs 1500 H. Riversight
shall 55H or 62H with RP and lumbermills. NotA 56H or 67.
So, to research RP first gives real delay of 2 turns to LS.
Now each one can balance the advantage and disadvantage of each option.
I still favor production and so RP first.
Best regards,

The Question is where not when do we build the LS. Now there is only the question which tech we want research.

Engineering, LRP and then democracy, given the recent input.

Engineering -> Democracy, a-la Provolution's poll and DS's poll.
If you think the people RP next you can set up a poll, in an orderly fashion, and we can decide without any unpleasantries.

And I assume your participation means you didn't really quit?

I have quit, and I am still here, it is a question of semantics. But yes, I am leaving as soon my contract kicks in shortly (business) and I see no interest in running for offices here, or initiating any major initiatives. I may make a few comments, lurk a bit, then disappear.

For space race, it is helpful to keep forests. Then when finishing the last couple of spaceship parts, chop all forests and you will instantly gain hundreds of hammers toward your unfinished spaceship parts. Forests will have gone up in hammers-value a lot.

If we want to keep mercantilism, (instead of state property) then we want to choose lumbermills over workshops because of food values.

Replaceable parts seems like it will delay the statue of liberty (since it will delay democracy even though it will speed production of Statue of L.). I think replaceable parts is helpful because it will help us raise production in cities other than Statue of L. city.
