Where to settle

I already have two cities on the coast very near to this location for my sea trade routes. Settling to the left of the sheep gives me coastal access but if I settled below that I would have access to an observatory and the cows to the right. What do you all think?

Is this your third city? I would prioritize science over trade at this point, especially since you already have two coastal cities. I've played games where I got plenty of trade all out of one coastal city.

My choice would be to move your settler two tiles northwest. You'll get the extra production from settling on a hill, the mountain for an observatory, access to plenty of fresh water tiles thanks to the river (not sure if that tile is itself a river tile for a garden), and your first border expansion will be the copper... although at 21 it looks like the luxury isn't that urgent. You'll also get stone and 2 iron tiles and a wheat in your 3rd ring expansion. It'll be a very high production city eventually, with enough food from the river to get it started.

Lol I should of that through more. I actually was talking about the North coast that settler is for somewhere else but the spot you mentioned fyar is actually probably better than either of the other two I was considering.

Side note not sure how the happiness happened. Second game on Emperor and happiness, gold and tech have yet to be a problem.

Haha, dunno where the other site that you were considering was, but my suggestion is also close enough to your other city that, coupled with the surrounding terrain, it should be easily defensible. Glad you thought it was helpful.

For what it's worth, I always find that every time I go up a difficultly level, my second game is MUCH much easier than the first. I think my first Emperor game was a real battle, I think as India where I had a helluva time fighting off Babylon, but then my second game I coasted.

Funny coincidence Babylon was my downfall as well. I just wan't prepared for the utter devastation I faced on the battlefield trying to take the capitol. Then again I probably shouldn't attacked when they had their uu and ub but I didn't have much of choice. Germany just gobbles up barbs and its said that a well armed but bankrupt nation is the most dangerous thing on earth (paraphrasing).
