I've been trying to incorporate a lot of the tips I see here on the forum into my game, and one particular aspect I am trying to improve is my city placement and specialization. I have just started a new game (pangea map/epic/noble) and my coastal capitol has wheat, corn, two dye, and a silk resource, combined with some grassland tiles (no seafood though, is that too much to ask?
). I'm thinking that this should be my super science city. Charlemagne is to my north at least 10 tiles away, and he is the only civ I've met so far in the first 30 turns or so. Between the two of us, though closer to Charle, is what I think could be a dynamite spot for a production city (stone and gold are present as well). Plus, it would expand my empire towards Charle, so I think it's a no-brainer to go that way. However I'm not quite sure where to put the city.
Would anyone mind looking at my snapshot and tell me if you think I'm on the right track with my choice of science city, and where you think the production city should go?
From this point on I'm going to play on my own until the conclusion. I want to learn by doing (plus I'll leave the write-ups to the experts like Sisiutil and MadScientist), but I think this first decision might be an important one. Thanks in advance for the input.
