Which Civ do you use the most?

Since I prefer to play on either archipelago or continent maps, I go with mainly the Seafaring Civilizations. The two I use most are the Netherlands (my background is Dutch) and the Byzantines. I have also used Carthage, and I am now experimenting with the Vikings. On occasion, I have used the English, and probably I should try out the Portuguese. I have not tried the Spanish at all.

I think that they should make the globe spherical like on google earth. Im trying to figure out how to contact the programmers to tell them that the flat map is entirely unrealistic.

Why wasn't this a poll?
I generally use Persia the most.

That feature exists in Civ 4.

I tend to select Random for a personal game. I'll set my victory conditions before I start and then let the game determine who I am.

This gets me exposed to trait combos I would not pick for myself, since I tend to be more of a builder than a warrior.

I think that a good player should be able to win (at medium difficulty) with any civ, any map and any VC.

I am currently playing A to Z between SGs, with the Hittites my current project.

I'd guess that the following are my top 4, but I really don't know what order they fall in:
China
Rome
Iroquois
Maya

@KevinRuddPM: Commercial is one of the civ traits. Commercial civs start with Alphabet and have reduced corruption (IIRC). They may get other stuff, but it's late and I don't recall right now.

I prefer commercial, scientific and seafaring traits.

My top 4 are:
Byzantines,
Dutch,
English,
Portuguese (Late Medieval golden age is nice ^_^)

Someone besides this Ancient One:old:[c3c][civ3mac] likes Seafaring civilizations.

A big :goodjob: Thumbs Up to Da3dalus.

Thanks. :) I find seafaring incredibly useful on continents or archipelago maps (I know you enjoy archipelago maps too from your previous posts timerover51 ^_^), because you can make a suicide rush across open ocean squares with a curragh or a dromon/galley to discover other civs before anyone else. If I'm able to pull this off I can trade techs and earn lots of money and pull even/ahead in the tech race early on in the game.

Commercial and seafaring are a killer combination in my mind, you can use the aforementioned strategy to snag an early tech lead and then the commercial trait will make you rich once your cities develop. Of course these traits are best on a continents or archipelago map, but I rarely play pangaea anyway. :P

I REALLY like the Byzantines, gotta be one of my favourites because they're scientific, and Dromons have the bombardment ability making them very powerful naval units in the ancient era. The only down side I find is they tend to spark an ancient era golden age which kinda sucks...I prefer a medieval or modern era golden age.

I really like Seafaring tribes myself. They especially make things nice for a 20k game.

My favorite is Carthage. I play continets, so I like seafaring trait for quick exploration. That and the Great Lighthouse usually allow me to find the other civs sooner than anyone, and sometimes trade with them before Astronomy. I also like their UU, but like da3dalus said before:

Carthage's UU is available after bronze working, and I tend to not use them before I'm out of Despotism. So that's a long way, and it's strange how they being such a strong defensive unit, force me to play agressive so I never have to actually defend. I also like the industrious trait. So a good civ overall, except for that thing with the Golden Age.

Yeah, this is the exact reason why I shy away from Carthage. I've had many an early golden age started with this Civ because some joker ROP raped me and my Numidian Mercenary beat him. The plus side to this is since you have a golden age you can produce an onslaught of units to teach the cheeky bugger not to mess with you. :P
