Which Civilizations

well definately Spain, France and Britain because they were the most important European civs. Also some interesting civs from the middle east and indian sub continent. China for sure, maybe Japan too since they're somewhat intresting. Africa can be represented by Carthage and a Barbary Coast civ, but no egypt since egypt never really did anything of note other than the pyramids (and a few neat buildings aren't grounds for inclusion). No New World civs since they're too different from Old World civilizations and they make the game feel really wierd. Definately no America, since it's the most boring civ of all and only freedom fry loving "patriots" really play as them anyways.

Just because people want a Canada civ doesn't mean it's gonna be included. Otherwise there would have been a lot of civs included in [c4w] and :bts:.

America is a good addition because Civ needs representation from modern civs like America and Germany. Isnt describing people that plays America as "freedom fry loving patriots" kinda rude?

Well according to the recently deposed Bush they're either that or terrorists, so don't blame me if your own emperors spread misinformation !

agreed

I know civ won't ever have this much content, but I'd like if they did a couple minor civs per region as well, like cuba, venice, burgundy, etc.. they wouldn't have to be playable civs, or even have proper leader portraits, but it'd be nice to have them scattered around just to give the world a little more flavor.

England/Great Britain
Holy Roman Empire/Germany
Rome/Italy
Greece/Byzantium
France
Spain
Russia
Persia
China
Mongolia
Japan
India
Khmer
Songhai
Mali
Egypt
Scandinavia/Denmark/Norway/Sweden/Kalmar Unionen
Arabia
USA

Would be the ones I would pick.

Mostly ancient cultures or those who have survived for considerable amounts of time.

Europe:
Greece, Rome (not Italy, since the Roman Empire would have never fallen), England, France, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia

Middle East:
Turks (Hittites, Seljuks, Ottomans the discrepancies shouldn't matter...), Arabs, Syrians, Egypt (Egypt may have started as African, but afterward, powers like the Omayyad and Fatimid Caliphates made it Middle Eastern)

South Asia:
India, Something to represent Indochina

East Asia: China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan

Meso/South America: Incans, Mayans, Aztecs

Africa: Ethiopia

Additionally, there should be emergent nations that only come into play via liberation from Colonial Powers: United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, South Africa, Pakistan

Some City State Ideas: Switzerland, Luxembourg, Venezuela, the Italian Cities, Israel, etc

Still hoping Shaka and the Zulu make a return eventually (since it seems like they won't be in Civ V at least initially). No one can replace everyone's favorite (or 2nd favorite if you like the Mongolians more) war-mongerer.

Wow! I've never seen anyone post about Armenia... I like it probably because I'm Armenian.

Now that it's confirmed that there's no Mongolia (I figured they were a lock to be in the game at launch) you can add them along with the Zulu to my wishlist. I hope there's a civilization that can replace the craziness of both of them in Civ V (at least until the eventual DLC/EP that adds Zulu and/or Mongolia back). Someone's gotta be around to declare war against virtually everyone.

Of Course Rome!! They were a massive civ and played a major role in the history of the West. They did have allies.... Like Armenia!
