Civ4 is by far the best game if you play frequently (w/mods of course). Civ5 is okay for a few games here and there but soon enough it becomes obvious it's broken in several aspects. I know that when I can conquer a civilization like three times as big as mine with a pair of tanks and a single artillery unit on a mid-level difficulty level that something is wrong. I still don't understand why they scrapped so many details and features. Still... I remain hopeful that modding will make significant improvements for civ5. A little reworking and polishing... but maybe a bit more than that realistically speaking.
