Since we've been discussing ideas for cults lately, I'm curious... Which do people prefer and why?
Both can be easily cultivated.
Fertility comes almost a full era earlier, giving some much needed early culture for city expansion. It can also cultivate an extra resource per city to increase its value faster. The downside is it costs gold when the economy is usually at its weakest.
Cybele gives less food but adds commerce, improving your economy instead of being a cost.
Do you use Fertility? Wait for Cybele to become available? Take Fertility without heavily cultivating it and then replace it with fully developed Cybele later on?
Personally I used to wait for Cybele and go all in on it. Now I'm doing 1 livestock in important cities and giving them Fertility just for the 1 culture, because it's much faster than waiting until roads can be built to connect cities so I can build Tombs. Then I switch to Cybele after the city radius has expanded.
