FINAL new thread of the day for me! promise lol!

Just wondering... If using the same machine, which is faster? Windows on Bootcamp? Or Mac? Any performance/graphic improvements on Mac?

Graphic performance is still somewhat better in Windows. There's not a huge gap anymore, but there's still a gap.

In Civ V, that difference may be eliminated if you are using a Fusion drive - a Bootcamp partition will be using only HDD speeds while OS X will be operating mostly at SSD speeds.
(There are convoluted ways to defeat the point of the Fusion drive if you want to use your SSD in Windows.)

There's a huge gap if you've got an NVIDIA card I believe.

I've got an ATI GPU in my Mac. The Mac version of Civ V runs just as well as the Windows version.

However, when I run the Windows version, I have Steam Workshop and built-in mod support. Also, no worry about 'patch gap'.

So, Civ V isn't even on my Mac partition.

Aspyr is still working on the newest cards, primarily for stability, in Civ V. From an overall / benchmark perspective, the OS X drivers are performing nearly as well as the Windows ones.

I think what you're referring to really is relevant to the last time Nvidia was used (2008 IIRC).

I have a 2010 iMac 27 inch 2.93GHz Intel core i7 with 12GB RAM.

it was built to order, with an internal Apple SSD 256GB and an internal 2TB hard disc.

The graphics is ATi Radeon HD 5750 1GB RAM

I have boot camp set up on the internal hard disk

I have win 7 on bootcamp.

I have the Mac Civ V on the SSD.

there is no doubt in my mind that the better Civ V is on boot camp and that is using the normal (slower)HDisc !

I can run Civ V at full resolution max everything with loads of mods on the steam install on bootcamp.

On the mac, despite using the fast SSD, I can only run Civ V at reduced screen size and at medium or low settings and with fewer mods. If I try higher settings or more mods, then Civ V runs out of memory after a few turns and crashes.

your experience may vary

I seem to recall that there were reports of specific performance issues when Mountain Lion came out. I haven't seen any indication that they were fixed by the latest 1.0.1.21 patch.

That's a strange thing for it to do because of graphics settings changes...

I have half the RAM you do (i.e. 6 GB) in my 2009 computer, and Civ V can be run on highest graphics settings, and huge maps w/o running out of memory in Mac or Windows.

However, that is under 10.7.5, not 10.8.x
