Which is the longest single session of Civ 3 -playing?

36 hours straight, no sleep. Now I limit myself to a few hours before taking a break, but will still kick off over 12 hours now and then.

It normally take me a month to finish a game (since I can play only about 30 minute or 1 hour each day).

So far, my longest stretch has been about 9 hours straight. It was a 10 civ Huge Map on Regent. I was involved in a war that lasted about 400 years. No one would sign peace treaties and I didn't want to take a break since everything I wanted to do was fresh in my head. I wound up winning that game, but only after FIVE World Wars!! Oh the humanity!

My longest session started out innocently-enough at 8am on a Saturday. Having finally succumbed to the JOMT (just one more turn) syndrome at around 2am Sunday morning, the session finally and mercifully ended when I slumped forward, banging my forehead on the glass of my monitor, eyes jerking open, switching to taskbar to check the time of 1pm Sunday afternoon.

I have a computer virus which keeps me from playing for any more than two hours at a time. Some of you may have received this virus - its called the wife-virus.

At least you don't have the mother-virus, as me and philippe do.

During a temporary fix to the wife virus (otherwise known as the wife visiting the mother-in-law) I managed a 19 hour continuous game of civ.

But normal service suffering the effects of the wife virus limits play to about 1 hour a day.

I had heard that I could upgrade to Girlfriend - virus, however in the process of the upgrade the Wife virus will take away all of my system resources. After that, Girlfriend virus will not work properly.

LOL lucky me I don't have that problem. Yes I do have a fiancee, but she doesn't mind that I play my little games...yet. I guess once we get older the fur will start flying, but for right now, I'm taking advantage of the situation :)

I have two other virus' as well. The Kid virus'. It seems to take effect whenever I start the game. "I want to play the Circus game. I want to play the Rabbit game. Waaaaaaaa!"

I haven't been able to play for more than about 10 hours straight on Civ III.

I once played for about 30 hours straight on Civ II

My longest on civ right now is about 16 hours or so.. but my longest all together is and EQ strectch of 36 hours straight. ( made lvl 54 and 55 as a mage in that sittings )

My longest session is 26 hours. :D
Not eaten any meal. Not taken any showers. Not going out.
Largest breaks we're 4 minute longs, just had breaks when going to toilet or
grabbed (literally grabbed) some bread from kitchen...
Then I closed Civ 3 -game and started spamming at here, this topic was created immediatly after my megasession :)

12-15 hours straight (ooh, was I stiff after that :( ).

Just finished longest game. Huge map, Regent, large continents, 16 civs.
3-1/2 months, playing probably 20-30 hours/week. Too meticulous.

This is a great thread. I have played 8 to 10 hours straight many times. I would play longer but my wife hates the game and my computer. She has seriously threatened divource over my use of the computer. I am cutting back now after she had her bags packed recently. No game should be more important than your family. Be careful.

Sneak it in when she is sleeping. Yoy can make it maybe a week with no sleep:lol:

9PM friday after getting off work til about 4:00pm Saturday- so only about 19 hrs.

Going from the WIFE program to the GIRLFRIEND program is actually a downgrade done to try and remove the buggy WIFE program, but the uninstall misses a lot of things. This is what causes the loss of system resources.

If, before installing the WIFE program, you install the cleanup utility, PRE-NUP, it can help tremedously should you need to unistall WIFE. But you must install PRE-NUP before hand. Its install program conflicts with the WIFE program. Occassionally, the installation of PRE-NUP will prevent WIFE from installing, other WIFE programs can be found that will install though.
