Large, size in fact does matter :P

For me, the larger the better, but My comp can't handle them too well.

Ive always played large. I like it more than standard, and I find Huge too big. Just my preference I guess

Standard is my default choice, with between 9-12 civs. I start to get a headache managing everything that happens on a large map.

I do think, however, that the ship movement points were geared toward the small map (they really haven't changed all that much since the very first Civilization from 1991, and the only map size offered in that game more or less corresponded to the "small" map size today.

Huge is the way to go. I love building cities and racing for resources, which is how I ended up with 20% of the world's land without once attacking.

I use Smartmap, 180x140 or values around that, Marathon speed and 5L of coffee to get through the night just to reach 0AD. :)

Huge & Marathon. Otherwise the game goes to quickly, and it seems like you never spend any length of time in 'any' period.

Tiny, because I like that every unit matters and the pace is high because you don't need to manage a huge empire in the late game. I enjoy having few but well-managed cities.

But I rarely actually play tiny maps because they are too easy and people laugh at you when you tell them you beat Emperor on a tiny map ;) I mostly play standard size, occasionally large or small.

Standard, because my computer is annoying slow at Huge maps whit more than 11 players.

Large. Epic.

My previous computer couldn't really handle Huge, but my new one can handle friggin' anything, and I'll probably try out huge next game. Never know, my preference may change.

Standard is at any rate way too small. You have two cities, and one reaches into the arctic, and the one next to it hits the equator. Now what kind of a world is that? ;)

Huge map
7 civs
Continents
Prince
Marathon

Gives a long, slow game with lots of space, lots of exploring and lots of time...

Small and on Marathon.

I like bigger maps, but I like having only a few cities to care for and not an unmanageable mass. I hate it it if the AI land grabs beyond my capabilities, so I like the map small so it is fairer on me.

Marathon because otherwise I build a unit and it is obsoleted quickly. I'd rather keep it for a while and make use of it. Also I find normal speed games just go too quickly -- funnily enough I like pressing Enter a few times to end turns and think about what I want to do next, rather than have to be on my toes all the time.

Like I said, I do like the bigger maps but I find it much harder to make good use of them. Also I can get overwhelmed if there's more than just a few enemy civs -- I find it harder to remember where I'm at with them all. If it is just two or three other civs, then I find it easier to know who my friends and enemies are. :)

I wish I could play the bigger maps, but standard is the largest map that my computer can comfortably handle.
