Which patches to install

Okay so I just formatted my computer and reinstalled everything with XP pro. I'm going to reinstall civ4 then warlord/bts but it's been a few years since I had to install this game and never really bothered with patches... This time I'd like to get ot the latest patch. I've found all patches on this website :

But I'm not too sure... do I have to download each of them and install them one after the other, or does patch 3.19 contains everything from previous patches ?

The most reliable way is to:

install the most recent version of DirectX 9c from Microsoft

then do the following:
Install Civ4, immediately patch it to 1.61 (download it fresh from here)
Install Warlords, immediately patch it to 2.08 (download it fresh from here)
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.17 (download it fresh from here).
then patch BTS to 3.19 (download it fresh from here).

the 3.17 step is not essential, but many people find it helps 3.19 install.

Make sure that you install using an administrator account.

The links point to the patches hosted here at Civ Fanatics, but they are the same files as those you linked to at Firaxis which you can use if you prefer.
