While we've been taking a break from the elimination games based around civs, leaders, city states, themes, etc., I've been enjoying the polls in this forum that ask which leader we'd prefer for a certain civ. The recent Mayan one was quite interesting with many of the new things I found out and the leaders that I'd like to see.

There aren't going to be as many choices for this one since they only have 2 good choices that I know of, but I thought it would still be fun to try a poll for the Tlingit. The first choice is Gush X'een who became the first Chief Shakes after defeating a rival chief in battle and then worked towards maintaining peaceful relations afterwards. The second choice is Chief Katlian who defeated the Russians in the first Battle of Sitka but ultimately had to retreat after the second one and started a blockade that eventually lead a peace with the Russians. They're both good choices with potential for fun abilities and agendas. So will you pick the man with the killer whale hat (Shakes) or the man with the raven hat (Katlian)?

I chose Gush X'een, as I like the idea of conquering rivals early and then building on it for the Tlingit. Katlian would seem more of a anti-invasion defensive leader, which doesn't appeal as much. Plus the whale hat is better.

Either would work, but i prefer an ability that ties into Tlingit/Haida lore more anyway (with their Wolf and Raven tribes. There's some interesting possibilities there)

The most important thing is that they are included :) (which is a tall order to hope for since neither Maya nor Inca are in yet :-/)

@Lord Lakely Its certainly a bit obvious at this point but I'm pretty hopeful for the Tlingit's inclusion too! Of course they're a really long way from being included but I feel that they do have some things leaning in their favor for inclusion. They are at least subconsciously in popular culture with their art (totem poles, the design of the Seattle Seahawks logo) and potlatchs, they have a rather cool and obvious UU, and for TSL lovers they fill in a nice part of the map (even more noticeable when you realize that we wouldn't even have American cities in those locations since Alaskan cities were excluded for some reason). Also, in a few polls here, they're usually only behind the Iroquois and Sioux for the most desired NA civ and both of them would be returning civs as opposed to a never-before-seen civ. In my opinion, they're probably one of the most likely choices for a brand new NA civ. You've got me intrigued with the Wolf and Raven tribes lore but I also wouldn't mind seeing an ability around not needing to farm.

@Uberfrog If there was ever a competition on here for the leader with the best hat, then Gush X'een would be at least in the top 3 if not number 1!

My preference is Gush X'een.
