Used to be my favorite, actually. But playing as the Mayans. . . get a lot of workers early on, and your infrastructure gets built quicker. And with the mayans being industrious. . . it's a good combo. I just don't like getting my GA so soon. I much prefer Middle-Ages GA.

My fave was the Sipahi until The Netherlands introduced us to a non-saltpeter dependant, 4 defense having, juggernaut of a defender, the Swiss Merc. Now I can be the builder my little heart desires without sweating an early decimation if I can't produce Musketmen immediately.

I prefer the Cossack, with its new blitz ability, these guys pack quite a punch.

When used correctly, the Berserk is very, very nasty and difficult to defend against. It’s useful for a long time (from invention to replaceable parts) and it’s truly unique because of the amphibious attack ability. What's more is: no strategic resources? No problem!

I love the Gallic Swordsman, had a great time enslaving barbarians (and Incans!) with the Javelin Thrower, and thought the Samurai was pretty dominant (not to mention have a kick-ass animation).

However, I never rampaged through the enemy like I did with the Berserker. I went from a struggling fledgning Civ to world power as my Berserkers sailed up and down the coasts, grabbing cities left and right. Way too cool...

Other faves include Rider, Ansar Warrior and Immortal. Yes, I believe in offensive UUs!

I don't personally like the Jaguar Warrior, but it's still very, very good.

despite my fondness for the vikings (as you can see by my avatar) nothing can match the sipahi until tanks (and if your factoring in movement, technically not until modern armor) with 8 attack, riflemen fortified in a town are easy prey, and one fortified in a city can even become fair game with enough, the extra cost is barely noticeable

The Ottomans' Sipahi is the best, IMO. Other great UU's are the Ansar Warrior and the Vikings' Berserk. I personally quite like the Austrians' Hussar, but it's not on the list.

Swiss Mercenary, they are cheap and the best defence money can buy in that age.

Because they are cheap i can upgrade em fropm my Spearman, normally i wait till i get musketman, but now it saves me alota money. And they are easy to build, so my colonie cities can build it fast as well
