Which version of Visual C is best for C4?

Been away for awhile. The last time I was here the recommendation was to use Visual C 2003. So wondering what the recommendation is today?

Visual C 2003
Visual C 2005
Visual C++ 2003 Express edition
Visual C++ 2005 Express edition

or what???

I do want to keep costs down, so freeware versions would be best. I really don't have a strong preference for C vs Cpp.

Have you considered CodeBlocks?

tried both Visual C++ 2005 Express edition and Code Blocks, and I concluded I like codeblocks best because of it speed and easy usage.

I am using Visual C++. I couldn't get CodeBlocks to compile correctly, and was already familiar with Microsoft Visual studio.

Well the code is C++ regardless of the tools

I'm using VC 2005 Express, took a few minutes to setup and works well enough. If you're modding BTS make sure you grab the updated makefile to save yourself some headaches, there's a post covering it in the tutorial forum.
